Race Rules

General Rules

1. Acceptance of Rules: Participants accept the competition rules and regulations as set by the Athletics Association of Thailand (AAT) and the event organizers. The decisions made by the organizing committee are final.

2. Health Check: Participants should undergo regular health checks to monitor their basic health before and after the competition.

3. Medical Withdrawal: If a medical diagnosis is provided by the medical team, race director, officials, and/or event staff, participants must exit the race course immediately for their safety and that of others.

4. Race Number Display: Participants must display their race number clearly on their chest without modifications, cutting, folding, or additional markings; otherwise, they risk disqualification from receiving awards or being disqualified (DQ).

5. Transfer of Race Number Prohibited: For medical safety and fair competition, the organizers reserve the right to prohibit the sale or transfer of race numbers. Any violations will result in both the giver and receiver being banned from competing for three years and reporting to the Athletics Association of Thailand.

6. Compliance with Officials: Participants must strictly follow the advice and/or warnings from officials/event staff. They acknowledge the risks that may occur before, during, and after the competition. The organizers are not responsible for injuries or fatalities resulting from training or participation in this event.

7. No Competing for Others: Competing under another person’s name or receiving medals or trophies in more than one category will result in disqualification from receiving awards or being disqualified (DQ).

8. Using Another’s Race Number: If a participant is found using another person’s race number, they will be disqualified from receiving awards and removed from the competition (DQ).

9. Non-transferable Entry: Registration rights cannot be transferred to others under any circumstances.

10. No Refunds: There are no refunds for registration fees under any circumstances, including cancellation due to uncontrollable events such as accidents, natural disasters, or protests.

11. Participant Limitations: The organizers have the authority to limit the number of participants and/or refuse entry to registered individuals.

12. Incomplete or False Information: If a participant provides incomplete and/or false information, the organizers reserve the right to cancel their registration and retain their registration fee in all cases.

13. Finisher Medals and Shirts: Commemorative medals and finisher shirts are reserved exclusively for participants who meet time/cut-off/finish line criteria.

14. Use of Media: Participants consent to allow the organizers to use photographs and videos recorded during this event for publicity and advertising in public areas.

Competition Regulations

1. Competition Categories

    • Marathon: Distance of 41.195 kilometers
    • Half Marathon: Distance of 21.0975 kilometers
    • Minimarathon: Distance of 10 kilometers
    • Fun Run: Distance of 5 kilometers
  1. Age Calculation Criteria  The age of the participants is calculated by subtracting the year of the event from the participant’s year of birth.
  2. Age Restrictions for Participants 
    • Marathon: Participants must be 19 years or older.
    • Half Marathon: Participants must be 18 years or older.
    • Minimarathon (10 km): Participants must be 17 years or older.

2. Criteria for Determining of Overall Winners will be determined by their finish time (Gun Time).

3. Criteria for Determining of Age Categories Winners will be determined by their net time (Chip Time / Net Time).

4. Criteria for Competition Results: Results will be considered based on the gender assigned at birth.

5. Checkpoint Requirement: Competitors must pass through designated checkpoints within the specified time limits.

6. Safety and Community Participation: To ensure safety and local community involvement, the organizers have set a cut-off time for runners and established a time limit. Competitors must pass these points before the designated cut-off time; failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification (DNF). Disqualified competitors will be transported back to the finish line and will not be eligible for awards, finisher medals, or certificates, except for post-race food and beverages.

7. Checkpoint Requirement: Competitors must pass through designated checkpoints within the specified time limits.

  7.1 Marathon: Time limit of 7 hours

    • 5 km: 03:50 AM
    • 10 km: 04:40 AM
    • 20 km: 06:20 AM
    • 30 km: 08:00 AM
    • 35 km: 08:50 AM
    • 40 km: 09:40 AM

  7.2 Half Marathon: Time limit of 3 hours 30 minutes

    • 5 km: 04:50 AM
    • 10 km: 05:40 AM
    • 15 km: 06:30 AM
    • 20 km: 07:20 AM

 7.3 Minimarathon (10 km): Time limit of 1 hour 40 minutes

    • 5 km: 05:30 AM

 7.4 Fun Run 5 km.: Time limit of 1 hour 30 minutes.

8. Race Result Appealing: competitors may submit an appeal regarding the race results within 30 minutes from the official announcement of the results at the winner registration point near the awards ceremony area. The appellant must pay a deposit of 2,000 Baht, which will be refunded only if the appeal is successful. The organizers reserve the right to confiscate the deposit if the appeal is unsuccessful. The decision of the officials is final.

9. Event Complaining: competitors have the right to file complaints regarding other issues, aside from race results, within 7 days from the race date by sending a written email with supporting evidence for consideration to songklamarathon1999@gmail.com. The decision of the officials is final.

10. Outside Assistance:  No outside individuals, including supporters, spectators, family, or friends of competitors, are allowed to assist runners during the race, as this may create unfair advantages. If violations are found, organizers reserve the right to confiscate trophies and/or prize money.

11. Race Course Details: competitors are responsible for studying the race route in detail and must follow directional signs, race officials, traffic personnel, and volunteers for their own safety and that of others.

12. Start Blocks Assignment: To ensure organization and safety for competitors, starting areas (Start Blocks) will be divided based on the anticipated finish times provided during registration. Therefore, organizers reserve the right to determine the allocation of starting areas for each runner according to their predicted times. The first consideration will be given to races that have received certification from World Athletics (World Athletic Label) and the Athletics Association of Thailand. All blocks will start simultaneously.

13. Runners Wristbands Access: Competitors must wear wristbands and enter the designated starting area as specified. Failure to comply will result in disqualification from the race.

Winners Register & Award Presentation

  1. The organizers reserve the right to award prizes only to winners who compete according to the rules on the day of the event.
  2. There will be NO changes to the order of winners in any category.
  3. Overall winners are NOT entitled to receive age group trophies.
  4. Thai winners in the overall category are eligible to receive international prize money.
  5. Foreign competitors are NOT entitled to receive Thai prize money.
  6. This competition adheres to the doping detection standards set by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), which operates under the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules as per the latest announcement on the date of the event. If random doping tests are conducted, winners must wait for the official results before receiving their prizes.
  7. Thai winners must present their national ID card or an official document containing their 13-digit ID number when reporting to the winner registration desk at the awards ceremony area on race day morning.
  8. Foreign winners must present their passport when reporting to the winner registration desk at the awards ceremony area on race day morning. However, foreign residents in Thailand may use a Thai driver’s license as a substitute.
  9. Winners must check their race results personally and report to the winner registration desk at the awards ceremony area on race day morning within 30 minutes after being informed of their results by scanning the QR code on their race BIB number

Race Pack Collection Procedure

  1. Competitors must present their national ID card or an official document containing their 13-digit ID number. Foreign competitors must present their passport. Only foreign residents in Thailand may use a Thai driver’s license as a substitute.
  2. Race BIB numbers must be collected in person only.
  3. Officials will fit wristbands according to the competition category for participants at the race BIB collection point. If a participant is found not wearing a wristband or wearing an incorrect type, the race officials will not allow them to enter the starting area on race day. The wristband must be in good condition and must not be altered or modified.
